We refer to the orientation of a wall plate as either vertical or horizontal. Vertical orientation is when the plate's longest edge is running vertically, much the same way a photograph's orientation would be described as portrait. With a horizontal orientation the plate would run long ways with the longest edge running parallel to the ground . There are many reasons for needing a wall plate to be either vertical or horizontal. In Australia, the majority of GPO's (General Purpose Outlet) or power points are mounted horizontally. This means that to make sure your installation looks as professional as possible we would recommend using our CWPFH series wall plate, as the H in our part number refer to Horizontal. We are still in the process of designing and manufacturing a new series of plates, which will be CWPFV (and yep you guessed it) where the V stands for Vertical. These vertical plates would best suit countries like the US and New Zealand where GPO's are more commonly mounted vertically Also the vertical plates work well when a large number of connections are required in one location as the use of a multi gang surround gives you the ability to mount up to four vertical wall plates next to each other while still giving you the appearance of a single plate. |
